Homecoming weekend, October 9 and 10, brought a large gathering at the chapter house. 85+ alumni joined 70+ undergraduate brothers. Many brothers brought their dates and wives, and some undergraduates invited their parents. By the time the weekend was over, about 300 people had passed through the house on North Millbrook Avenue.
The weekend opened Friday night with a Homecoming party at the house. On Saturday, alumni returned for the reunion, with a tri-tip dinner provided by the alumni association, before heading to the Bulldogs' game against Boise State.
For many alumni it was a first look at the remodeled house: the new kitchen, the Joe Koontz Library, the trophy case and the composite wall.
Sixty-three years of memories
The heart of the weekend was in the Joe Koontz Library, where the chapter's newly restored photo albums were laid out on the table. The albums hold 63 years of chapter life, with photographs dating back to the early 1960s, and they drew a steady crowd all weekend.
Alumni went looking for themselves, the brothers they were initiated with, and the men who came before them. Undergraduates got a look at the chapter as it was long before they arrived.
Every generation
The brothers who came home spanned nearly six decades, from Doug Buessing, initiated in the spring of 1968, to the Fall 2024 class. Across the courtyard, brothers from every era caught up with one another, and alumni met the undergraduates who live in the house today.
